Petition to help the Queenslanders with vision impairments
According to a recent media release, State Member for Bundaberg David Batt has started a petition through Parliament House to continue the fight to enable Queensland residents who are blind or have low vision to obtain Disability Parking permits”.
After being approached by a number of residents who are blind or have low vision, Mr Batt said he was shocked to find out that the scheme’s eligibility criteria in Queensland excludes those who are blind or have low vision.
“Visual impairment does impair the person’s ability to walk, often having to rely on a white cane, assistance dog and/or a carer,” says Mr Batt.
